Look What’s Popping Up

On May 2, Wellesley will come alive with Wellesley in Bloom, a town-wide celebration of spring featuring floral fun, pop-up experiences, and creative collaborations throughout Wellesley’s shopping areas.

Now in its second year, Wellesley in Bloom invites you to stroll through town and discover unexpected moments of beauty, creativity, and local charm.

From floral displays and art installations to pop-up experiences and seasonal surprises, businesses and community organizations across Wellesley will bring the spirit of spring to life.

2026 Theme: Pop-Up!

Throughout Wellesley’s retail districts, local businesses and organizations will create pop-up moments inspired by flowers, spring, creativity, and community.

You might encounter:

  • A floral art show spilling onto the sidewalk
  • Hands-on bouquet making experiences
  • Flower-inspired craft workshops
  • Sweet surprises and spring treats
  • Seasonal displays and creative storefront installations

Each experience will reflect the personality of the businesses and the energy of the season.

And because the theme is Pop-Up, you never quite know what delightful surprise you might discover next.

A Walkable Spring Experience

Wellesley in Bloom is designed to be explored on foot.

Visitors are encouraged to stroll through the town’s shopping areas, discover pop-up moments, and enjoy the creativity of local businesses along the way.

More than 40 businesses and community organizations are participating this year, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere throughout town.

  • Among the pop-up experiences you may encounter are
  • A floral art exhibition spilling outdoors at Beth Urdang Gallery
  • A hands-on flower arranging experience at Beauty & Main, where you can create their own Mother’s Day bouquets
  • Fabric flower workshops at Hipstitch
  • A dazzling display of daffodils at Winston Flowers
  • Retailers are also adding playful surprises to the celebration. At London Harness & TUMI Wellesley, you can enjoy a chocolate flower containing a hidden reward

The celebration will continue through the week leading up to Mother’s Day, making it a wonderful time to explore Wellesley.

Special Features on Kick-Off Day

The celebration begins Saturday, May 2, with special attractions including:

Sweetie’s Candy Bus
A colorful mobile candy shop bringing a playful pop-up experience to town.

Captain Marden’s Seafoods Food Truck
From one of Wellesley’s most beloved seafood markets, serving fresh favorites.

Additional pop-up experiences throughout town will be announced in the coming weeks.

Mahjong and Canasta Pop-Up

Join our first Mahjong and Canasta Pop-Up — a lively social gathering of playing the hottest games!

  • Saturday, May 2
  • Mahjong: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Canasta: 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: black & blue Steak and Crab, 65 Central St.

A portion of proceeds will be donated to Accelerated Cure Project, supporting efforts to accelerate research and find a cure for MS.

A Special Partnership

Wellesley in Bloom coincides with the Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club Kitchen & Home Tour, one of the organization’s three major fundraising events supporting grants and scholarships for the Wellesley community.

The tour brings hundreds of visitors to town each year and adds to the festive energy of the day.

Wonderful Wellesley is an initiative made possible by a grant from The Commonwealth of Massachusetts to support the businesses and local shopping areas of Wellesley.

Through creative events and community partnerships, Wonderful Wellesley works to showcase the town’s distinctive retail districts and encourage residents and visitors to explore and support local businesses.

Wonderful Wellesley has also produced the Wellesley Wonderland Ice Sculpture Stroll, a popular winter event that has been held twice in recent years.
